Our last day in Chennai began ordinary enough, Tusar had day old Domino’s in his hand and we ate a brief breakfast before leaving the hotel for a day of sight seeing. The first place we visited was Kapaleeswarar Hindu temple, in Mylapore. Dedicated to lord Shiva, the temple is an excellent example of Dravidian architecture. The vivid blues of the temples exterior complimented the colorful decorations that adorned the walls. Kapeleeswarar is the most beautifully and colorful temple I have ever visited.

Later we visited St. Thomas Cathedra, built by the Portuguese in the fifteen hundreds. This place of worship was truly impressive, complete with gothic arches and several tall white spires. We then visited a brass museum and drove by the second longest beach in the world. Fortunately, the rest of the day was devoted to shopping.
Together with Dr. Siva, we traveled on “tuk-tuks” to several shopping destinations around Chennai. Shopping was fun; however, the highlight of the excursion was surely riding on the “tuk-tuks” at break neck speeds through some of the most heavily congested streets in India. After the experience, I realized I might have been safer swinging a nine iron, in a level field, during a lightning storm.
