Aboard International Flight C0082, EWR to DEL

seanI believe this is the longest I’ve sat in one place without getting up ever. Going on 10 hours now, I might be about to crack. This is my first international flight, the first of many to come, and there were some surprises. When we received our meals we were provided with stainless steel utensils. I am not interested in using sharp metal objects to do evil things on airplanes myself. In fact, I frown on such things. But it is clear from past events that there are people who are. I would definitely be concerned aboutplane getting stabbed with a fork after someone ate with it, too. That is just begging for an infection.

At first I was very disappointed about getting the very center seat of a nine-seat row, but I’ve found there are more advantages than disadvantages to this: with people on either side of me asleep, I can’t get up and “move about the cabin,” which has increased my tolerance for cramped spaces; I can’t see out the windows, which means I can stay blissfully ignorant of the gremlin tearing the wing and engine apart during flashes of lightning; my perspective of the plane is visually balanced, which incurs psychological harmony; I’m always the last one to be served food and drink, which means that after everyone else is finished and wishing they had more, I am still basking in the savory ambrosia of in-flight cuisine.  Yes, there are a lot of perks to sitting center seat, center aisle. I only hope on future flights, my fellow classmates may benefit from such a cosmic gift.

I would post our geographical coordinates, but they are changing rapidly at our brisk pace of 626 mph. I can tell you that we are about a half hour out from Delhi.
